–an exploration and discussion about the work of black women of African descent from around the world that utilize the arts as a tool of global activism; and how the influence and leadership of heroines such as Nina Simone and Miriam Makeba have inspired and continue to inspire them.
Panel moderator bio:
Mavhu Wakatama Hargrove (poetess/author) is an American-born Zimbabwean writer who spent her childhood and teenage years in Harare, Zimbabwe. She has been published in “Chicken Soup For the Cat Lover’s Soul” and Granta Magazine.
